Building a North American Flatbow

The “North American Flatbow” is a popular bow design that has lasted the ages…for good reason. This design was found not only In NA but around the world!

The “flatbow” by definition is simply that, a wide flat bow with near flat cross sections that follows sleek lines to narrow tips. A graceful and functional design.

This Master “course” will teach you how to create an all wood selfbow from a split Ash stave. We will guide you through layout, shape and tillering of the bow using only a few hand tools.

When you are near completed, you will craft a bowstring and bring your creation to life!

What are we going to do:

Tools for bowmaking, how to use & sharpening

Layout & dimensions for a truly custom fit

Tillering & draw weight

Crafting a bow string
