Natural Navigation

Navigation using the Sun, Moon and Stars

The more time you spend in nature, the more you notice the cues.  The positions and motions of the Sun, Moon, stars and planets can help us orient ourselves very well indeed.  What’s more, natural navigation techniques are not mutually exclusive to using maps, compasses or even more modern navigational technology.  We just need to know how to reconcile them and use them in a complementary fashion.  There is a deeper lesson here too – being aware of the cycles of the Sun, Moon and more, allow us to be fully in tune with the cycles of nature all around us.

This is what we gonna do:

Navigation using the Sun

Navigation using the Moon

Navigation using the stars

Navigational cues from the planets

How (not) to get lost

Reconciling the three Norths

Timetable: 4 may 2021 at 9:30 am
